Mythology: Shungite is an excellent stone for magical and mystical work. It grounds spiritual energy to bring it into the Earth plane existence. Shungite is also used to bring Light into the auric energy field, allowing positive energy only to reach within that field. This brings not only physical protection, but also psychic protection. It is said to be protection against the evil eye and negative energies.

Usage: Shungite is used by many for purification. This often takes the form of creating an elixir or purifying water for drinking or bathing the skin to bring about healing and energy. Springs near the source of Shungite have been used at least as far back as Czar Peter the Great for its healing properties.

Metaphysical Properties: Shungite is believed to protect the human energy field and reduce stress, headache and insomnia. It’s thought to be beneficial for impotence, anemia, allergies, asthma, gastritis, dyspepsia, kidney diseases, liver diseases, diabetes, gall-bladder problems, immune system deterioration, pancreas diseases, common colds, cardiovascular diseases, cholecystitis, and chronic fatigue. Shungite elixir is also thought to be beneficial for hair and skin, and to have anti-bacterial capabilities. Just having a piece of Shungite on your person is said to be generally health boosting and protective from disease.
