Clear quartz is the most emblematic quartz family. Clear quartz is one of the most abundant minerals in the world and can be found in a variety of locations across all continents. Quartz is therefore linked to the history of a number of ancient societies in the world.

The term “quartz” comes from the Greek word “ice” which the Greek philosopher Theophrastus considered to be permanent ice, so cold that it was not thawed.

In Japan, the clear meaning of quartz was an “ideal gem,” as space, purity and patience were meant to symbolize. North American native cultures saw stone as a sensitive being, and would provide food and other services for it in terms of its clear meaning in quartz. In both Austrailia and South America, quartz myths describing the cosmic snake and the creator of life, led by a quartz crystal, are of comparable importance. In the case of cultures in Central and South America, the quartz meaning was that of a Vessal. They thought that their ancestors had spirits like a spirit urn in clear quartz, sculpted a transparent quartz stone as a human skull and used it as a religious talisman. Quartz crystals have been carved into spheres in Scotland and Ireland. They believed that clear quartz had a metaphysical ability to cure disease in their livestock. Today, stone is given different metaphysical attributes.

According to ancient astrologers, the part of the month when the moon is on its rise is said to be the strongest time to shout because of the magnetic pull between the rock crystal and the moon. Traditional beliefs and scientific experimentation over the centuries have suggested a good diet for crystal-gassers, as well as an infusion of mugwort or chicory to improve the level of iron in the blood.
