Crystal towers, explained
A generator, or tower, is a crystal cut and polished into a six-sided column with a pointed top and a flat base, so it stands upright. The shape echoes a natural quartz point, but because it is carved it can be made from almost any stone, including ones that never grow as points, such as rose quartz and obsidian.

Natural point or tower?
A natural point keeps the faces it grew with. A tower is shaped by a cutter, which gives an even, symmetrical piece that stands well on a shelf. Cut-base towers sit in between: natural faces with a sawn base.

Towers look best in groups of three or five, arranged by height, with a light from above. Mixed stones in one height ladder make an easy, colourful shelf.
Polished Generator FAQ
What is the difference between a generator and a tower?
The names are used for the same thing in the trade, a six-sided polished column with a point and a flat base.
Are towers natural crystals?
Towers are carved from natural stone. The shape is cut by hand and machine, which is why they can be made from stones that do not grow as points.
Will a tower stand on its own?
Yes. Every tower has a flat, polished base.
