The Physical Properties of Rainbow Aura Quartz

Rainbow Aura's multi-coloured appearance is produced by treating Quartz crystals with titanium and gold in a process called chemical vapour deposition or CVD. In this process, Quartz is heated to about 600 to 1100 °C in a vacuum chamber to permanently bond titanium and gold atoms to the surface of the crystals. The result? An iridescence that gets even more dazzling when light shines on the crystal.

Rainbow Aura is highly durable, with a hardness rating of 7 on the Mohs scale. It can be transparent to opaque. It is produced in various parts of the world, including Brazil, China, and India.

The History of Rainbow Aura Quartz

For centuries, people have been trying to discover ways to manufacture gold and other elements. Among these attempts is to come up with a technique to meld crystals and metals together. Then scientists created CVD which perfectly binds the distinct physical and metaphysical properties of Quartz and high vibrational properties of titanium and gold.
