Rare & Historic Brown Coral Fossil Geode

The Brown Coral Fossil Geode is a truly unique and rare piece featuring a stunning coral fossil encased in a beautiful brown and white agate.

A rare and extraordinary find, an agatized coral fossil from the Miocene era at 52 to 214.2 million years old, this fossil is a true marvel of nature. Formed through a process of sediment covering shallow coral reefs and the subsequent replacement of the coral’s calcium carbonate skeleton with chalcedony through the infiltration of silica-rich groundwater, this specimen is a testament to the enduring power of the natural world.

Expertly preserved, this coral displays a botryoidal habit of crystallized chalcedony, with a few large stalactitic growths. When viewed under long-wave UV light, the outer edges of the fossil emit a faint, otherworldly green glow!
